The unpredictability of
Newfoundland's weather coupled with its rugged coastline demands superior
skills, safety awareness and above all sound judgment when venturing out
into this harsh environment. This course is designed to prepare students to
cope with these advanced conditions with the focus on safety expressed
throughout the course. This is a mostly "hands on" course which will involve
a demanding 6 full days, many extending into the evenings. Participants are
expected to show up in reasonable shape and with the appropriate basic
skills, an Eskimo roll is a must. Paddle Canada certification will be available for
those who satisfactorily complete the course.
